Apprentice at America’s Oldest Theatre

Walnut Street Theatre, a LORT-A producing theatre in Philadelphia, PA, is seeking applicants for its 2026–2027 Apprentice Program. For over 35 years, the Walnut’s Apprentice Program has provided rigorous, hands-on training to early-career theatre professionals.

Walnut Street Theatre produces five Mainstage productions and a full Kids Series season annually in a 952-seat historic theatre, serving nearly 50,000 season subscribers. Apprentices are integral members of the organization and work closely with professional staff across all departments.

  • Full-time commitment
  • $500 weekly scholarship stipend
  • Free tuition to Walnut Street Theatre School classes
  • No housing provided
  • Apprenticeships may begin as early as April 2026 and conclude by June 2027 (dates vary by department)
