Summer Filmmaking Workshop Instructor

Bryn Mawr Film Institute seeks an instructor for its 2026 Summer Filmmaking Workshop.

Over the course of six weeks, the instructor (with the help of an intern) will lead a group of 12 high school students through their collaborative creation of one short film. Under the guidance of the instructor, students will work together to develop a concept, write a script, scout locations, shoot their film (serving as actors, directors, and crew), edit their footage, and create promotional materials. The resulting film will debut on the big screen at BMFI in the winter.

We are looking for an instructor knowledgeable about and able to teach a variety of film-related disciplines—writing, acting, directing, filming, and editing. There is also a "camp counselor" component to the job—the instructor must also be able to engage with and guide a dozen precocious teenagers. A successful session will come with the possibility of returning for subsequent summers.

The workshop will be held from Monday to Thursday, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, over six weeks spanning late June to early August. BMFI will provide the venue, administration, basic production equipment, and computers and editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro).
