Assistant Director of Development

Position Summary

The Walnut Street Theatre is seeking an energetic, intellectually curious, and self-motivated individual to serve as Assistant Director of Development. This is a hands-on role for someone who takes initiative, is eager to learn, and thrives in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in donor engagement, campaign execution, and fundraising strategy.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Corporate Sponsorship Oversight
  • Donor Database Management
  • Tele-Funding Campaign Management

Additional Responsibilities Include:

  • Fundraising & Cultivation Events
  • Development Apprentice Oversight
  • Prospect Management Coordination
  • Strategic Planning
  • Grant Writing & Reporting
  • Other duties as assigned by the Director of Development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, fundraising, arts administration, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of experience in fundraising or donor relations, ideally within a nonprofit or arts organization.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn new systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong skills in Excel preferred.
  • Experience with donor database systems (e.g., Archtics, Tessitura, Raiser’s Edge) preferred.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary range: $60K-$65K, commensurate with experience.
A performance-based bonus structure is available after one full year of employment.
Benefits include Single Coverage Health and Dental insurance; Life Insurance equal to one year’s salary; paid vacation; complimentary theatre tickets.
Full-Time, Exempt.
