Production Internship | Summer 2025

FringeArts is Philadelphia’s home for contemporary performance, presenting progressive, world-class art that expands the imagination and boldly defies expectations. Our programming exposes audiences to genre-defying performances and installations by accomplished and emerging innovators who push the boundaries of art-making and redefine the artistic landscape worldwide.

 

The Production Intern will be instrumental in load-ins, load-outs, and running of shows and events on the mainstage as well as in the studio, restaurant, and biergarten. They will also aid the Production department with administrative tasks. Specialization within the department is possible, depending on our production schedule and the intern’s interest. 

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Set construction/installation
  • Unloading trucks
  • Hanging/focusing lights
  • Assisting audio set up
  • Participating in advance of technical riders
  • Creating and implementing show schedules
  • Participating in organization and execution of rentals
  • Correspondence with other departments as well as external artists, clients, etc
  • Other administrative, facility, and data entry tasks as needed

 

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Strong problem solver
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new skills and abilities
  • Experienced with general stagecraft, such as lighting/electrics, audio, set construction, and/or video
  • General knowledge of Mac Operating Systems
  • Comfortable with Excel and Google Suite
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs repeatedly
  • Comfort with ladders and working at height
  • Knowledge of Vectorworks, AutoCAD, Lightwright, and/or Qlab5 preferred
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle preferred

 

While this internship is unpaid, college credit is available depending on the intern’s college program. FringeArts will provide interns with a $200 travel stipend to be used for transportation costs.

 

18-20 hours per week preferred. Occasional weekend hours and evening hours may be required for events. Please note we are a dog-friendly office!
