Part-Time Visitor Services Supervisor

Job Purpose:

As a Part-Time Visitor Services Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring high-quality visitor service and efficient daily operations at Hagley Museum. This leadership role includes managing visitor and staff safety, overseeing ticket and retail sales, and coordinating daily museum operations to provide an exceptional visitor experience. You will support special events and higher visitation days, supervise museum activities independently, and work with on-call support when needed.

 

Specific Duties:

  • Ensure compliance with safety and security policies and procedures
  • Supervise part-time staff, including Visitor Service Associates, Guides, and Shuttle Drivers to work together to create an exceptional guest experience for daily museum guests, members, and groups
  • Responsible for opening and closing procedures of the Visitor Center and store
  • Troubleshoot issues with point-of-sale system (Altru) and scheduling/communication platform (WhenToWork)
  • Effectively communicate with peers and leadership team to ensure information is properly disseminated throughout property
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve guest or staff problems/concerns when they arise         
  • Communicate with colleagues in the Preservation, Buildings, and Grounds division to report issues in any guest areas
  • Monitor email and phone messages from part-time staff and guests throughout operating day as well as maintain open communication with staff through Hagley’s radio network
  • Oversee daily museum operating procedures including cash handling, opening and closing of guest areas, confirming staff arrival and departure, and other administrative responsibilities.
  • Support operations during key Hagley events including Fireworks at Hagley, the Hagley Car Show, and the Hagley Craft Fair.

 

Minimum Experience and Required Skills:

  • High school diploma/GED equivalent. 
  • Availability to work weekends, occasional evenings, and holidays
  • At least 2 years of Visitor Service experience in a public-facing business or organization
  • Experience with point-of-sale systems and money handling required; familiarity with Altru is a plus
  • Proven experience with scheduling systems (e.g., ADP, WhenToWork)
  • Working knowledge of fundamental software programs including the Microsoft Office Suite, spreadsheets, and database management
  • Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions
  • CPR/First Aid certification (Provided by Hagley)
  • Hold a valid driver's license
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull up to 25 pounds
  • Excellent communication, administrative, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Excels in analytical thinking and makes sound decisions under pressure

 

Schedule:

9:15am – 5:15pm, three days per week (24 hours)

Compensation:

$22.00 per hour
