Project Manager

Tempesta di Mare is seeking a part-time project manager to assist in the planning and production of a multi-event performance and public engagement project, Hidden Virtuosas – music by and for the extraordinary female musicians of baroque Venice, that will take place in Philadelphia in Fall 2025.

The project manager will work as an integral part of our team and will be responsible for executing the vision of the project director and producing director, functioning as ‘command central’ for the project. The project includes a planning phase (Feb – Aug’25), the project phase (Sep-Nov ’25), and a post-project phase (Nov-Dec ’25). Hours per week will vary depending on the phase from 5-10 hrs/week to 40, with the heaviest time commitment during the two weeks of production, October 27 – November 9, 2025, and during a related project in May 2025.

The ideal candidate will have a background in event- or production management, excellent time-management and communication skills, ease at working in a team, and interest in contributing to the success of the project as a whole. Specific responsibilities include:

• Establish and maintain a detailed production and event calendar;
• Monitor the timely execution of all project elements in Tempesta’s task management system and including appropriate personnel;
• Manage artist logistics, contracts, housing and rehearsal details;
• Seek out and bring to our attention ideas and potential project tie-ins for related stories and social media content and marketing;
• Participate in accessibility training and ensure that recommendations from Art-Reach consultation are implemented across all project parts;
• Communicate details of plans and events with all team members;
• Work with staff to publicize and disseminate information about events along established online, print media, and social media platforms;
• Track progress of interpretive programming details, and follow up when necessary;
• Work closely with staff and other personnel to coordinate complex event logistics;
• Together with producing director manage cross-site concerts and project events and work with other production personnel and contractors;
• Act as point person during the production phase for rehearsals, events and performance activities;
• Collect and organize results from data and audience feedback forms, media files, images and other materials for analysis, web distribution, reporting, and archiving.

The successful applicant is a highly organized, self-motivated individual with experience in arts production or arts-related nonprofit.

Tempesta is looking for a team member, who will embrace and further the project specifically, and the organization’s mission and work generally. Familiarity with how to run concerts and events a must. Applicant must be confident and comfortable on the phone, in writing and in person as they will have to interact with artists, contractors, collaborating organizations, and venue contacts, as well as donors, board members, and patrons.

Key abilities include effective time and project management, absolute attention to detail, solid written and verbal skills, and an overall ability to think creatively and to solve problems independently. Candidate should be comfortable working in a small, fast-paced, one-room office, managing multiple parts of the project simultaneously.

Ease of use of Microsoft office suite, general computer programs and usages are assumed. We are a Mac-platform office.Bachelor Degree and at least a full year of work experience

Candidates should be able to lift 30lbs. Having a driver’s license is a plus.

Hidden Virtuosas: music by and for the extraordinary female musicians of baroque Venice

Hidden Virtuosas is a concert- and public-engagement project centered on female composers and musicians living and working within baroque Venice’s Ospedali, a network of institutions that housed and educated abandoned babies, the destitute, the homeless and those with incurable diseases. Some lived as Ospedali wards all their lives and taught each other music on a professional level. They became literate, internationally renowned performers with levels of agency extraordinary for women of the time. We reveal their stories through an orchestral concert, symposium, immersive salon performance, and student engagement activities.

The project will include arts-access evaluation and implementation work with our partner ArtReach, updates to the Tempesta website, and to be determined public auxiliary events.
