Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance Launches First-of-its-Kind ‘Social Impact Database’ to Highlight 100+ Programs and Services Offered by Local Cultural CommunityDigital directory chronicles network of social impact programming at cultural organizations throughout Philadelphia, improving access for city officials and the public.December 10, 2024 (PHILADELPHIA) – The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance (“Cultural Alliance”) today announced the launch of a new “Social Impact Database,” thanks to the support of AARP’s Community Challenge. This digital resource details the array of social impact programming and services offered by Philadelphia’s cultural institutions during the 2024 calendar year. The directory compiles information from 50 arts and culture organizations in the city, offering Philadelphians greater access to information about programming and services, while serving as an asset for City Councilmembers and other local officials to connect constituents with valuable resources. “Philadelphia’s arts and culture organizations have long been rooted in the city’s neighborhoods, consistently delivering programs with lasting impact. Despite this success and longevity, many residents in need are not aware of the existing resources they could benefit from,” said Patricia Wilson Aden, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance. “The Social Impact Database compiles these resources in one centralized directory, and it is our hope that we can empower more Philadelphians to take advantage of programs and services that can improve their lives and strengthen their communities.” The Social Impact Database highlights more than 100 current and long-term programs, which collectively benefit more than 700,000 Philadelphians. The majority of these programs are completely free for participants, and many serve seniors, young people, and low-income individuals. To meet people where they are, 85% of the organizations surveyed offer programming at offsite locations such as schools, community centers, parks, or libraries. The database features newer initiatives alongside dozens of programs that have been serving the community for over a decade. Programs range from art-making initiatives, creative workforce development, dance education, literacy programs, and more, working to address critical issues from education, access and inclusion, youth development, and mental health and wellness. The new tool offers a searchable online directory of these programs and a report for constituent service professionals, including members of Philadelphia City Council and other public agencies. It is now available on the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance website. The database highlights current programs occurring in the calendar year 2024 as well as ongoing long-term social impact initiatives. Individuals interested in specific programs can contact the organizations directly for additional information. The Social Impact Database is a part of the Cultural Alliance’s robust research program, which prioritizes rigorous, innovative research focused on the relationship between the residents of the Philadelphia region and arts and culture. The project is supported by AARP Community Challenge, a grant program focused on innovative, quick-action projects that inspire change in areas such as public places; housing; transportation; digital connectivity; community resilience; and more. ### About Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance: Established in 1972, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance has proudly served as the region’s foremost advocate for arts and cultural for over 50 years.
