Admissions Assistant

Please Touch Museum is seeking a dedicated Admissions Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide exceptional customer service to all Museum visitors, will be knowledgeable about all Museum products including ticket sales, membership, discounts, and programs. Admissions Assistants serve as ambassadors for the Museum, greet visitors and answer questions about the Museum.

This position is part of the AFSCME Local 397 bargaining unit.

Duties:

  • Greet visitors and assist with ticket and membership sales. Answer visitor questions in person, phone, and email regarding Museum exhibits and programs.
  • Provide exceptional service to all visitors.
  • Reconcile cash, credit cards, coupons before and after each shift.
  • Operate Museum’s Carousel; ensure safety procedures are being followed by all visitors; clean/sanitize between rides and take payment as needed for carousel riders.
  • Ensure that the Museum’s rules and safety standard requirements are always followed. Know and understand emergency action plans.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate degree, or vocational or technical school degree preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in customer service and sales; working in a museum or similar environment a plus.
  • Equivalent combination of experience and education that has led to the development of comparable skills, abilities, and perspectives.
  • Availability to work on weekends, evenings, and holidays in addition to weekdays.
  • Must have cash-handling and POS system experience, basic math and computer skills are required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required. Experience effectively speaking with children and families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to multitask and work in a positive environment and be a team player.
  • Flexible, can easily adapt to new policies and procedures.
  • Ability to embrace and demonstrate the Museum’s Mission, Values, and DEIBA Commitment.
  • Must have PA Act 153 clearances (PA criminal history, FBI fingerprints, and PA Child Abuse) completed prior to hire.
  • All employees are required to have COVID-19 vaccination, and flu vaccination, as a term and condition of employment.
