Galbraith & Paul is a studio-based business in Philadelphia that designs and hand block prints original fabric patterns in Philadelphia - as well as producing wallpaper and pillows. We offer a 4 day work week, competitive salary and benefits, and a supportive work community.
We are a looking for hard-working, positive, and pro-active maker to join our talented team as a Hand Block Printer. Applicants need not have extensive printmaking experience, but should have demonstrated abilities working with their hands making something of quality in a production setting.
Responsibilities
- Work on a creative and cooperative team of artisans to hand block print fabric patterns in repeat for the high-end interiors market.
- Produce high-quality hand block prints, with attention to detail, consistency, and pace.
- Use knowledge and eye for color to check and confirm paint color matching.
- Participate in other tasks related to the printing operation - washing blocks, keeping track of supplies, helping to put away shipments of linen, maintaining a clean and well-organized printing space, participating in weekly meetings.
Qualifications
- Some knowledge of art and/or craft techniques.
- Previous employment or internship as a maker.
- Ability to do a physical job with much of the day standing.
- Ability to be neat and organized.
- A positive and proactive personality.
Job Details
- 4 days/32 hours a week is full-time
