Substitute Teacher Club Creative Afterschool

The Substitute Teacher (Group Supervisor & Assistant Group Supervisor) role is a part-time and occasional year-round position.

Job Duties:

Classroom management skills - ensuring a safe environment for children

Communicating and collaborating with other PlayArts teachers and director/supervisor

Following procedures and adhere to lesson goals

Overseeing students outside of the classroom as well as hallways, bathrooms etc.

Maintaining a clean and orderly classroom and playspace

Overseeing the normal classroom rhythms and activities

Compiling a report for the teacher for when they return (optional)

Co-Lead preschool in the classroom, PlaySpace, and off-site locations

Providing quality care and supervision for the children

Responsible for the growth & development of preschool and school age children (physical, cognitive, social/emotional)

Maintaining accurate adult to child ratios

Regularly check and communicate through team-wide platforms (ie. slack, email, etc.)

Assisting with cleaning, sanitizing and closing duties in the classroom/facility

Role Requirements:

AAS in Early Childhood Education preferred

BA in Early Childhood Education, Education, or like field preferred, but not required with appropriate experience

Will have to obtain or provide State clearances, FBI fingerprints, and background checks *prior to start date

Will have to obtain or provide Mandated reporter training and TWO letters of references

All costs for clearances and trainings will be reimbursed after 90 days of employment

Arts or Education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, the following credits and experience is required:

(1) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 30 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field.

(2) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, including 600 or more hours of secondary training described in § 3270.31(c) (relating to age and training).

(3) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate, 15 credit hours from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human services field and 1 year of experience with children.

(4) A high school diploma or a general education development certificate and completion of a post-secondary training curriculum described in § 3270.31(c).

(5) A high school diploma or a general educational development certificate and 2 years experience with children (babysitting, camp counseling) or teaching experience is required.
