Digital Imaging Manager

The Conservation Center for Art & Historic Artifacts (CCAHA), located in the Fitler Square neighborhood of Philadelphia, is seeking a full-time Digital Imaging Manager to join our community of professionals. The Digital Imaging Manager acts as project manager for all digital imaging projects and oversees the imaging team, which currently consists of two staff. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability in project management, handling artifacts, and working with imaging best practices. Aside from managing day-to-day workflows, other key responsibilities include estimating, planning, and implementing large imaging projects. As a regional conservation center with a national mission, CCAHA is committed to advancing cultural heritage preservation through more inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable practices. Additionally, participating in outreach activities and pursuing professional interests and growth are encouraged. This position reports to the Director of Conservation. This position also routinely collaborates with our Digital Archives Specialist, Conservators, Registrar, Housing staff, and Administrative staff. 

Responsibilities 

• Handles or delegates leads and client communications related to the digital imaging department. This includes consistent client follow-up and communications prior to, during, and after the imaging process. 

• Creates or delegates imaging estimates and proposals for all digitization projects, including assisting the Director of Business Development with RFPs and grant proposals containing digital imaging components. 

• Holds regular meetings to manage the imaging team and the workflow of the department to ensure that all deadlines are met. 

• Updates or creates standards and written procedures for the department. 

• Performs and delegates quality control for conservation treatment photography, high-resolution imaging and retouching projects, and facsimile projects. 

• Maintains regular inventory of supplies for the digital imaging department and plans for hardware, software, storage, and equipment upgrades. 

• Maintains relationships with external vendors to ensure any off-site imaging and facsimile work maintains CCAHA’s standards and deadlines. 

• Assists with digitization and printing projects as necessary. 

• Participates in outreach through one or more of the following: presenting talks and / or workshops, working with the Manager of Marketing on social media posts, publishing articles or CCAHA technical leaflets. 

Qualifications 

Minimum qualifications of the Digital Imaging Manager are: 

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent work experience. 

• Familiarity with the Federal Agencies Digital Guidelines Initiative and other digital imaging standards, professional imaging equipment and editing software.

• Hands-on work experience with archives, library, or museum collections, including knowledge of basic preservation and handling techniques for rare and fragile items. 

• Experience in project management and managing a small team as well as collaborating with multiple departments within an organization. Certification in project management and/or experience using Airtable project management software a plus.

• Demonstrated ability to work under deadlines in a collaborative environment. 

• Familiarity with past, current, and emerging trends in the field of digital preservation.

• Attention to detail and effective communication skills.

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position. A generous benefits package that includes time-off, medical, dental and vision coverage, FSA, and retirement matches are included. The salary range for this position is $59,505 - $63,970.
