Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

Social Media Manager

Broad Street Review, a nonprofit Philly-based online arts and culture journal founded in 2005, is seeking a part-time social media manager to start in December 2024.

This is a freelance, contracted, remote-work position. The social media manager largely sets their own hours around a weekly publication schedule, with periodic staff meetings required (on Zoom not more than once per month) and recommended attendance at occasional BSR events (some digital, some in-person). Roughly five to seven hours per week with a monthly retainer of $500.

The Social Media Manager reports to BSR’s editor-in-chief. They will create and schedule Facebook and Instagram posts for approximately 5-10 BSR articles per week, share other relevant content, monitor relevant posts from the arts community, interact with BSR’s followers, and brainstorm and collaborate with the BSR team on social-media strategy. While growth is great, our team is primarily focused on quality engagement and meaningful content that supports our mission, rather than metrics.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years’ professional writing, marketing, public relations, and/or social-media experience; be familiar with content creation software like Canva and Descript, and project management and social-media management software like Trello and Buffer. They will have a strong background in Philly’s arts and culture scene and possess a proactive, affirmative, and collaborative attitude as well as an interest in accessibility and disability justice (including digital spaces).
