Museum Educator, PTWe are currently seeking a Museum Educator to join us at PAFA! Reporting to the Arts Education Manager, the selected individual will educate and engage museum visitors through Museum tours, educational outreach, and much, much more! ABOUT PAFA Founded in 1805, the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) is America's first school and museum of fine arts. Located in the center city of Philadelphia, PAFA is intimate in scale with a strong sense of community. PAFA offers several nondegree and certificate in studio art and art appreciation programs. PAFA's museum has an outstanding collection of American art, and the museum actively collects and exhibits contemporary art, including work in new media. Additionally, PAFA is home to the Brodsky Center, a print and papermaking center focused on the creation of innovative editions by contemporary artists. THE POSITION: Museum Educator, PT Museum Educator will be part of the Education Department working mainly with PAFA's Art Education program. Primary duties will involve support of art education programs and activities, development of museum activities and tours, outreach lessons, the creation of supplemental materials, as well as planning family engagement programs and other initiatives. This position involves traveling to outreach locations mostly in the Feltonville and Kensington neighborhoods of Philadelphia. As part of the Museum Education team, the Museum Educator will report to the Arts Education Manager and work closely with other museum educators, teaching artist, and other staff. QUALIFICATIONS: Preferred qualified candidates should be interested in arts and culture, have experience in education or educational setting, have great public speaking skills, and have the ability to work with children and adults of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.
Working with Minors Background checks, including Child Abuse Clearances and FBI Clearances, are required for all PAFA staff working with minors, as well as the completion of mandatory virtual staff training sessions through Vector Solutions. Applicants with valid Child Abuse History Clearances will have priority. Additional background checks may be required and will be administered by PAFA.
