Event Supervisor

Position Description: Glen Foerd is seeking a Seasonal, Part-Time Event Supervisor to oversee the historic property during private, catered events and to provide oversight of all Visitor Services Assistants (VSA’s). The Event Supervisor will report to the Business Manager.   More details on work hours can be found below.

The Event Supervisor handles all issues with the facility that may arise during the event. At the end of the night, the Event Supervisor locks up and ensures that the mansion and grounds are closed. Because the Event Supervisor is the only Glen Foerd staff on-site during evening events, he/she must be reliable, independent, and have a strong attention to detail. As the manager on-site, the Event Supervisor ensures that the rental client, catering staff and all third-party vendors always adhere to Glen Foerd’s policies and procedures, including clean-up and noise level requirements. As such, Event Supervisors must be self-confident and comfortable addressing issues directly.  

 

Responsibilities:

·      Opens and closes the building and grounds.

·      Monitors event music sound levels to ensure that limits are enforced.

·      Responsible for hiring, training, and scheduling VSA’s.

·      Must provide coverage for all evening wedding shifts.

·      Responsible to ensure the safety of the guests and security of the mansion, art collection, and contents.  Circulate among visitors to protect property and ensure cooperation from partners and renters.

·      Responsible to initiate emergency response if necessary.

·      Provides event reporting; and ongoing management and assistance during events.

·      Represent Glen Foerd in an engaging and professional way.

·      Answer questions and attend to guest needs to ensure a positive experience while visiting Glen Foerd.

·      Field phone calls during private events and complete post-event reports. 

·      Solicit feedback from visitors and implement surveys when requested. 

·      Other tasks as assigned. 

 

Employment Type: Seasonal, part-time, non-exempt. Weekly hours typically range from 20-28 hours, generally from 4:00pm - 12:30am (sometimes earlier or later end time, depending on event clean-up) on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, April through November.  The candidate will be required to work all weekend evening events, as well as 4 hours on Mondays to produce post-event reports and also to assist with other Glen Foerd events. Opportunities for work during the week and winter may also arise. 

 

Qualifications:

·      Minimum high school, but some college preferred.

·      Customer service, or events experience a plus.

·      Experience in the service or hospitality industry is a must.

·      Proactive and flexible with customer service, problem solving, and interpersonal skills.

·      Must have the ability to work well with a variety of individuals and audiences.

·      Ability to climb stairs regularly during shift and be comfortable standing for the shift is necessary.

·      General knowledge or interest in art, history, architecture, or preservation is a plus.  

·      Public transportation is limited late at night, so a car is required for this position.

 

Compensation: $25.00 - $30.00/hour
