Production and Rentals Manager

Christ Church Preservation Trust seeks a new part-time staff member to fill the role of Rentals and Production Manager at the Christ Church Neighborhood House Theater to oversee technical systems, liaise with renters, manage independent contractors, and maintain a historic space dedicated to art and community. We encourage energetic, self-motivated theater technicians and production managers to apply. Responsibilities would include:

  • Supervising theater maintenance, including performing minor repairs and obtaining qualified personnel for large maintenance concerns.
  • Managing technicians for theater work.
  • Supervising events.
  • Oversight of theater inventory and storage spaces.
  • Checking renters in and out of rental spaces.
  • Communicating restoration tasks to renters and maintaining paperwork related to the in-house repertory system.
  • Implementing best practices for crews working in the theater with a focus on safety.
  • Communicating with our clients and contractors to aid in event production and proper usage of space and resources.
  • Assist in set up and break down of the Christ Church Farmers’ Market 
  • Assist in coordinating technical work and updates for Christ Church and Trust
  • Restocking and maintaining first aid supplies.
  • Offer tours to potential renters, visitors, and residency artists 

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

Availability: This position requires 15-20 hours of work per week, with at least 10 of those hours onsite. Open availability preferred. Some dayshifts are required. Must be available nights and weekends. 

Education/Experience: B.A. in Technical Theater or a related field is preferred, but not required. At least 1-year of supervisory experience. Demonstrable experience with theatrical lighting and sound systems is required.

Computer and Office Skills: Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite. Candidates should be familiar with CAD and/or Vectorworks. Operate copiers, scanners, and other office equipment. Use tools and equipment with dexterity, climb a scaffold, and perform mechanical tasks as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Directly supervises a small pool of independent contractors. Responsibilities include training and coaching staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; overseeing theater safety, and implementing best practices.

The vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Education Level: BA in Theater or Production Management preferred 

Compensation: This is a part-time, at-will position. The Production Manager will be paid $25 per hour, on a bi-monthly schedule.
