Orchestra Assistant Job Posting 

 

The Waldorf School of Philadelphia is currently seeking an Orchestra Assistant for 8.5 hours per week.  The Orchestra Assistant works under the supervision of the Orchestra Teacher to support grade school students who are new to instrumental music and to ensure that all students in the orchestra program have a joyful and interactive experience in ensemble music making.  

 

During Orchestra classes the Assistant will provide individual or small group instruction to new and developing students and give additional support to these students so they may participate meaningfully in orchestra class. In consultation with the orchestra teacher, they will develop individual student support plans and assist with the reintegration of new and developing students into the class orchestra. 

 

Experience/Requirements

The Orchestra Assistant will:

 

Have experience working in a school environment

Enjoy working with middle school students 

Be able to read bass and treble clef 

Have experience playing string instruments, preferably violin.  

Have familiarity with cello, viola or bass.

Have experience giving individual instrumental lessons

Demonstrate a personal and professional commitment to diversity and multiculturalism in education

 

This is a temporary part time position through June 7, 2022. The orchestra teaching schedule is currently Monday - Wednesday, 12:30 - 3:15 p.m.  The Waldorf School of Philadelphia requires that its employees and auxiliary teaching staff obtain the COVID-19 vaccine for the 2021-2022 school year.
