Afterschool Arts Teacher

PlayArts is hiring for a teacher position in our school-age, Play Loud AfterSchool program at our off-site location at Moffet Elementary! Candidates must be patient, energetic, flexible, and have experience working with elementary school-age children. Teachers must demonstrate an eagerness and ability to take on leadership roles. Each day, teachers are required to help set up rooms, meet students at Adaire Elementary School and walk (5 blocks) to Moffet Elementary School, supervise and engage in outdoor play with the children, and help facilitate afterschool arts activities in the area of their expertise.

We are ideally looking for someone with a Music Education background, however, candidates with other arts or education experience are welcome to apply. 

Clearances, mandated reporter training and TWO letters of references are required.  

Arts or education degrees preferred. Without an education-related degree, at least two years child care or teaching experience is required. (Babysitting, nannying, camp counseling etc. can count toward years of experience, provided that a former employer will sign off.)

MUST be available at least three days per week (and ideally T-Th) from 3-6 p.m., September – June, based on Philadelphia public school calendar. Additional hours are available for camp programming on early dismissal days and days school is not in session.
