InLiquid Remote Internship Program

As times are changing,  InLiquid continues to offer their Internship Program on a work-from-home basis. This program will continue to offer the experience of working in a non-profit arts organization and be part of its planning process in virtual programs and exhibitions.

Internships are designed primarily for undergraduate and graduate students, although open to anyone with a strong desire and commitment. We offer internships in several areas including Editorial, Membership, Exhibitions/Events, Graphic Design, and Development.  All interns will gain useful insight cross-departments and be exposed to many the many facets of our team. 

Interns will work closely with InLiquid staff  through Zoom meetings, and will be involved with regular activities as well as special projects as needed. Internships are non-paid positions; academic credit may be received depending on the intern’s college program. Internships are available year-round.

DURATION OF INTERNSHIP
Hours and length of internships will vary according to the needs of the specific job as outlined below. Occasional hours in the evening or weekend may be required. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, but internships may not be granted until the following semester.

EXPECTATIONS
1. Applicants should have strong communication, organization, and administrative skills; should possess interest and enthusiasm for arts and culture.
2. Interns will maintain a regular schedule, be punctual to virtual meetings, and work effectively in a professional manner.
3. Interns will be willing to “wear many hats”: take on a variety of tasks outside of their job descriptions on occasion as determined by the supervising staff including, but not limited to administrative work, filing, data entry, phone calls, faxing, deliveries, art handling and organizing.
4. Ability to work well in a teamwork-oriented environment through strong communication and interpersonal skills, internally and externally.
5. Computer savvy students preferred.

INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTIONS:

Editorial Intern
The Editorial intern will work under the supervision of the Site Editor and Content Manager. They will assist with updating and creating pages on current gallery/museum exhibitions and listings; researching art news, activities, and events for website and weekly newsletter; writing for internal and external exhibitions throughout the Philadelphia area for our blog and social media channels; and assistance with publicity and press release distribution. Students will be exposed to, and integrally involved in, many facets of a non-profit visual arts organization. The students will have a unique opportunity to gain expertise in web publication, both on the design end and the editorial end, and will develop an in-depth, insider’s knowledge of a large and vibrant visual arts community.

Exhibition and Membership Intern
The Exhibition and Membership intern will work under the supervision of the Exhibition Managers. S/He will assist with updating and creating artist membership pages on our website; occasionally assisting with aspects of our membership campaigns; researching artists for exhibitions and proposals; photographing exhibitions; assisting with and leading on some installations and de-installations of exhibitions; and assistance with publicity and press release distribution for exhibitions. Special exhibition and curatorial projects are possible as well, depending on the needs of the organization and interests and skills of the intern. Students will be exposed to, and integrally involved in, many facets of a nonprofit visual arts organization. Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain expertise in web publication and exhibition
coordination and will develop an in-depth, insider’s knowledge of a large and vibrant visual arts community. The ideal candidate will be web-savvy and have a strong interest in contemporary visual arts or art history; strong writing skills; keen eye for detail; some art handling experience (preferred); and a willingness to learn. Experience in Microsoft Office a must; some photography skills, Photoshop, WordPress, and/or basic HTML is a plus, but not essential. This position involves a 3 to 6-month commitment, 10 to 15 hours a week. Hours and days of the week are flexible.

Development and Events Intern
The Development and Events intern will work under the supervision of the Database and Development Managers. S/He will assist with gift processing and acknowledgment, research, gathering documentation for grants and reporting, database entry, writing letters, solicitations for in-kind donations, coordinating vendors for events, some volunteer management, and follow up a correspondence with donors. Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain experience in fundraising and special event planning and will develop an in-depth, insider’s knowledge of a large and vibrant visual arts community. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in contemporary visual arts or art history and arts management; strong writing skills; interest in event planning and fundraising for a nonprofit arts organization; extremely detail oriented; and a willingness to learn. Experience in Microsoft Office is a must; Dreamweaver, basic HTML, Filemaker Pro, WordPress, and/or customer relationship management (CRM) software is a plus, but not necessary. This position involves a 3 to 6-month commitment, 10 – 15 hours a week. Hours and days of the week are flexible.

Graphic Design Intern
The Graphic Design intern will work under the supervision of the staff Graphic Designer. S/He will assist with the production of promotional materials, exhibition support materials, documentation, and archiving of graphics. Interns will have a unique opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of graphics production, workflows, and knowledge of event and exhibition promotion.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in contemporary visual arts, web design, and work in the non-profit sector. The candidate should be extremely detail oriented and have a willingness to learn. Experience in Microsoft Office, HTML, and Adobe Products is a must; WordPress, and/or customer relationship management software is a plus, but not necessary. This position involves a 3 to 6-month commitment, 10 – 15 hours a week. Hours and days of the week are flexible. Please note: Due to stay-at-home restrictions, we can only consider applicants who already currently have Adobe Creative Suite and cannot offer the use of a staff computer at this time.
