Maker - Part-timeTWEE is looking for a Maker for our studio in Philadelphia, PA. Compensation: $12/ hr Job Type: Part-time - 15-20 hrs week - Ideally Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday from 1-5pm. About Us: A women owned and operated business founded in 2017, TWEE is a maker’s studio that produces handmade sidewalk chalk. Our products are sold in over 400 independent stores as well as larger, national retailers. Responsibilities: The Maker would be responsible for the creation of a specific amount of chalk to be poured, popped, and/or decorated on a daily basis. Our method for making the chalk is similar to the workings of a ceramic studio, both in materials and processes. Any experience with mold making, pouring and similar practices would be helpful, although not necessary. **This is very much like working in a bakery. Maintaining a clean studio space is a shared responsibility and encompasses chores such as the disposal of leftover chalk slurry, scraping tables, moving bags of plaster, 5 gallon jugs, taking the (daily) trash out, and cleaning your own tools. This is especially important now as we maintian a clean and safe studio as per new health guidelines. Requirements: This is a very creative workspace where we learn something new every day. Days at TWEE are sometimes all-hands-on-deck, and everyone chips in to help with a specific project. Other days, the studio assistant may be required to work unsupervised. Because of this, the individual in this position must be self-motivated and be able to anticipate the next job that needs to be done. The candidate must have extreme attention to detail and be well organized. They must also be a QUICK learner and worker. Please have a reliable mode of transportation. Physical Requirements: MUST be able to lift 50lbs. Also must be able to work standing for 3-4 hours at a time. This is a workplace with real-life rainbows and sparkles, but it is also a very messy and physically taxing job. |
