Carpenter/Fabricator – Atelier PHL

Atelier Art Services is seeking experienced fabricators for our crate construction shop in
Philadelphia. Qualified applicants are familiar with a wide range of hand and power tools,
including table saws, band saws, miter saws, routers and drills/impact drivers. Self motivation,
time management, and attention to detail are essential qualities. Accurate measuring, basic
arithmetic, and precise construction are also key. Previous experience with construction of
fabrication is required. Previous experience with crate construction and shipping artwork, as
well as material concerns related to artwork, is preferred. Experience with carpentry or
cabinetmaking outside of an academic setting is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

Physically capable of lifting objects weighing up to 80 pounds; physically
capable of moving objects weighing up to 150 pounds; and physically capable of climbing
ladders up to 20 feet; physically capable of using hand tools such as drills, hammer,
screwdrivers, pliers, and wrenches; physically capable of using power tools such as table saws,
routers, nail guns, and bandsaws

Visual Requirements:

Some computer use, ability to see and read measurements clearly
 

Hearing Requirements:

Telephone use; ability to hear instructions, as an object is being handled
and moved.

Responsibilities:

Use a wide range of hand and power tools to build custom conveyances for artworks according
to shop drawings and specifications
Receive and store shipments of materials
Ability to work with others as a team member as well as independently
Maintain a clean work environment
Perform routine maintenance on tools

The crate fabricator position is full time, 32-40 hours per week. The starting rate is $15/hr, with
a performance and rate evaluation after 8 weeks. Atelier Art Services offers health, vision, and
