JOB TITLE:   Chief Financial Officer
 
DIVISION SUPPORTED:  Office of Finance and Accounting
 
SUPERVISOR’S TITLES:  President and Chief Executive Officer
 
FUNCTION OF POSITION:
 As a member of the College’s senior management team and reporting to the President and Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer manages the College’s finance and accounting operations in their entirety.  Daily operations include overseeing and supporting payroll and accounts payable and receivables.  Provides management and Trustees with analysis of the financial position of the organization on a regular basis.   Projections and budgeting are a key function of this position. 
 
TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE GUIDELINES:
MBA or CPA required plus 15 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
At least ten years of supervisory experience
At least five years of experience working in a non-profit organization preferred
Financial planning strategy
General ledger accounting
Strategic planning and vision
Quality management
Promotion of process improvement
Forecasting and budgeting
Corporate finance and investments
Annual audit preparations
QuickBooks, Microsoft, and Paychex experience desired 
 
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct the financial activities of the College
Supervise the accounting department of the College and all its related staff and activities
Maintain and reconcile all general ledger accounts
Manage monthly closing process and generation of financial statements
Prepare and coordinate the annual operating budget and related variance analysis
Forecast cash flow
Establish and maintain banking relationships
Work directly with President and CEO in establishing and managing financial aspects of major vendor relationships
Analyze financial activities of all organizational departments and contractual vendors
Assist the Advancement Department with preparation of budgets relating to grant proposals
Oversee the endowment fund and its coordination with investment consultants
Facilitate relationships with insurance brokers
Review all contracts with the President and CEO
Serve as liaison to several Board committees
Coordinate annual non-profit tax reporting with contracted tax preparer
Manage and review tax reporting including payroll and sales tax returns
Negotiate benefit package (health insurance and retirement plan)
 
Salary/Benefits:   This is a full-time, exempt position that receives a competitive non-profit salary with a generous benefits package, including health, dental, vision, PTO (paid time off), and contribution towards 403(b) retirement plan.
