Studio Coordinator

Main Line Art Center seeks a full-time Studio Coordinator. The successful candidate will be an experienced, detail-oriented, and energetic art education professional who will assist in the planning, development, and implementation of innovative studio and accessible art programs. The Studio Coordinator reports to the Director of Education and is responsible for helping to maintain and manage seven art studios during four semesters a year, including inventorying and ordering supplies, communicating with over 75 teaching artists, conducting quarterly evaluations and related administrative activities. The Studio Coordinator will assist the Director of Education with mapping out overarching curricular goals and the accurate recording and assessment of relevant data. The Studio Coordinator will also schedule and manage birthday parties, private lessons and studio rentals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Educational Programming

  • Assists the Director of Education with the design and implementation of educational programs for adults, children and families.
  • Sends class confirmations, maintains the classroom schedule, teaching artist files and the Center’s database.
  • Assists with communication with teaching artists, students and registration staff.
  • Manages and organizes supply donations.
  • Orders program supplies for education department including accessible art and community programs. Tracks expenses and maintains supply budget with teaching artists.
  • Maintains model list and hires models as needed for classes and open studios. Coordinates model requests from teaching artists and check requests with Finance & Facilities Manager.
  • Compiles teaching artist contracts and faculty payments two to four times per semester.
  • Assists Director of Education in the coordination and distribution of class evaluations for all programs and input of information for strategic evaluation. Help to maintain files for programming and statistics to insure proper evaluation and assessment
  • Assists with coordination, implementation and staffing of promotional programs including community days, arts festivals, open houses and community events.
  • Serves as liaison to board or project committees as assigned.
  • Assists the Director of Education and Director of Communications with the creation and distribution of education-specific marketing and maintenance of calendars.
  • Collaborates with Director of Education in curriculum development and program creation including the accessible art programs for artists with disabilities for both in-house offerings and external partnerships
  • Coordinates scholarship applications and distribution as part of the scholarship committee.

Studio Management

  • Manages class calendar, room assignments & equipment set-up with facilities staff.
  • Tracks maintenance and organization of studios and equipment. Develops and implements cleaning schedule with facilities staff.
  • Primary contact for teaching artists’ studio needs and supplies
  • Coordinates studio rentals including birthday parties, private lessons and corporate events.

Customer Service

  • Supervises registration staff, ensuring quality customer service and assists staff in prioritizing tasks.
  • Ensures front desk coverage as needed providing occasional back-up coverage for evening and/or weekend registration staff
  • Assists with customer service (fielding phone calls, complaints, etc.).
  • Assists with registrations during registration periods.

  • Knowledge of visual art, craft art, and art education
  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in fine arts, education or a related discipline, or two years equivalent experience or training in an art center, museum or gallery
  • Administrative and graphic design experience
  • Strong service orientation, belief in the power of community and a personal and professional commitment to DEI
  • Advanced communication skills including writing and editing skills, computer literacy and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office and CRM software
  • The ability to work collaboratively and positively in teams within a fast paced environment
  • The ability to work to deadlines, prioritize tasks in complex projects and delegate where needed while providing on-time deliverables
  • Warm, engaging personality
