Curator of Community and Academic Programs

Status: Full Time

The Biggs Museum of American Art in Dover, Delaware, is looking for a Curator of Community and Academic Programs to join our growing team. We’re looking for a self-motivated, creative individual to help fulfill our mission of promoting arts education in the local community and across the region. In this role, you’ll develop, execute, and track all academic, community, school, and family programs here at the museum, as well as create and manage all interactive content in the galleries.

As our educational Curator, you’ll be responsible for artist/scholar recruitment, school tour oversight and creation, content development (video and audio guide scripts, children’s activities, etc.), and coordinating all community-based events. You’ll oversee a significant portion of the museum’s budget, and will be required to write multiple education-based grants on an annual basis.

Most importantly, we are looking for someone who will take a thoughtful and innovative approach to consider diversity, equity, inclusion, and access at every level of programming.

Experience: 4-6 years museum education experience; Masters in Art History, Museum Studies, Studio Art, or Education preferred. Applicants with diverse backgrounds, experiences, ability and perspectives are encouraged to apply. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of involvement with national or local education or museum education organizations (e.g. AAM’s EdCom, NAEA or local chapter).
