Development Department Internship

The Philadelphia Orchestra is seeking an ambitious, motivated and outgoing student for an internship opportunity in our Development Department.  The Development Department is staffed by 20 professionals and is responsible for raising more than $25 million dollars annually to support the institution.

What you will learn:

The basics of prospect research and management systems that drive the activities of frontline fundraisers.

The basics of planning, management, and execution of fundraising and cultivation events.

 

What you will do:

Help create a system to administer a new donor stewardship program.

Assist with the preparation of donor acknowledgement letters, correspondence, proposals, reports, and other communications.

Assist with updating/changing donor records in the Tessitura database.

Assist with donor stewardship event planning as needed.

Provide administrative support as needed—such as filing, scanning, etc.

 

What we require:

Completion of a minimum of 2 to 3 years of college, pursuing a related BA/BS degree with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Good communication skills, highly organized, detail-focused, and customer service oriented.   

Ability to work with highly confidential information.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Internet research with a strong ability to learn and grasp new computer programs quickly. 

Able to commit to approximately 24 hours per week of time with availability some evenings and weekends for concert and/or event duty.

A strong interest in learning about the work and impact of a major non-profit cultural organization.
