2019 Cultural Leaders Breakfast: Board Diversity

In the 2017 report, Leading with Intent, BoardSource found that 84% of members on the non-profit boards surveyed identified as Caucasian and 27% of the boards identified as all white. These statistics are not unique to the organizations surveyed. A number of arts and culture organizations in Philadelphia struggle with the racial and ethnic diversity of their boards. Our role at the Cultural Alliance is to help change these troubling statistics by proving our members with the information and resources they need in their quests to achieve diverse and inclusive boards.

On April 9, 2019, the Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance will host the second annual Cultural Leaders' Learning & Networking Breakfast. The event will gather the executive directors of Cultural Alliance member organizations and their board chairs for an exclusive networking and learning opportunity focused on board diversity: why it's vital to an organization's sustainability and how an organization can get there.

The event will feature a keynote address from Juan Otero, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion at Comcast and remarks by diversity and inclusion expert Daria Torres, founder of the Walls Torres Group. Daria will also lead attendees through an activity designed to access an organization's readiness for diversity.
