Fine Art Provenance Intern

The Science History Institute is recruiting for the part-time (20-25 hrs per week; Mon-Fri), limited-duration (10-week) paid position of Fine Art Provenance Intern.  The Fine Art Provenance Intern will play a critical role in advancing the Institute’s mission to share and create knowledge by digitally publishing the provenance of its fine art collection.  The Fine Art Provenance Intern will assist the Museum and Digital Collections Departments in publishing provenance research conducted by the Institute’s staff into the corresponding records within the digital collections.

 

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or current enrollment in an undergraduate program in the following areas of study: History, Digital Humanities, History of Science, Museum Studies, Computer Science, Information Science, Public History or related fields.  Two years of professional work experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree will be considered.
  • Knowledge of proper protocols relating to fine art acquisition and provenance.
  • Familiarity of digital asset management systems and content management systems is preferred.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as acute attention to detail.
