Part-Time Porter

Summary:
Porter staff work orders are provided by House Management staff.  Part-Time Porters will report to the Porter Supervisor and collaborate with House Management staff to achieve event and building needs.

Essential Functions:

  • Show Set-Ups and Support
    • Setting up tables, linens, chairs, poster cases, easles, stanchions, signs, and coat racks for Kimmel Center, Academy of Music, Merriam Theater events, meetings, etc.
    • Transporting client equipment for Kimmel Center/Academy of Music events within the Kimmel Center building.
    • Small-scale furniture relocation within Kimmel Center, Academy of Music, and Merriam Theater buildings.
    • Set-up of stuffing tables and placement of programs to be stuffed by usher staff
    • Distribution of programs for Kimmel Center Events.
    • Other duties as determined by Kimmel Center House Management.
  • Outdoor Work
    • Hanging of 3-sheets for The Kimmel Center. Academy of Music, and Merriam Theater
    • Placement of outdoor set-ups (same equipment as above)
  • Building Support
    • Manage equipment storage and occasional equipment assembly.
    • Laundering of table linens as needed.
    • Management and storage of programs, s-heets, brochures, and other Kimmel Center event materials.
    • Disposal of outdated materials
    • Setting and removal of limited access stanchioning.
    • Transport of miscellaneous Kimmel Center Inc. materials between The Kimmel Center, 1500 Walnut Street building, The Academy of Music, The Merriam Theater, and the Academy House.

Environment, Physical Demands, and other Conditions:

  • Availability to work a varied schedule, including weekends, holidays, and evenings. Flexibility is a must.
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
