Executive DirectorThe World of Scouting Museum [WOSM] seeks a dynamic, highly motivated, self-directed, externally oriented, and entrepreneurial museum professional to lead WOSM through the next phase of its development. The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in institutional leadership, public awareness and marketing skills, building collaborative relationships with other organizations, and strong development skills. The Executive Director's responsibilities will include leadership and management, long-range planning, board relationships and guidance, budget and finance, fundraising and development, collections management and public programs, exhibits and interpretation, external relationships, and staff supervision [Museum Curator]. WOSM is a private non-profit organization [501c.3] founded in 1994 to collect, interpret, and exhibit material documenting the history of the scouting movement worldwide, with specific focus on scouting in America, including organizations for both young men and women. WOSM is not officially affiliated with any scouting organization. The museum has extensive collections including, artifacts, photographs, film, fine arts, ephemera, and scouting memorabilia. The museum's collections are housed in a collections' facility on the grounds of the Freedoms Foundation in Valley Forge, PA. At present WOSM does not have a permanent exhibit space, and a top priority for a new Executive Director will be working with the board to develop a permanent facility. |
