Special EventsThe Academy of Vocal Arts seeks a seasoned professional to join its Development team in managing special events. This full-time position is available immediately and includes a competitive benefits package. The position reports to the Development department leadership and is responsible for overseeing a wide range of patron events from intermission receptions for major donors to the annual black-tie Gala. The successful candidate will have a proven record of working effectively with outside caterers, venue contacts, Board members, and volunteers, as well as working collaboratively with colleagues in other departments. Important traits include extraordinary attention to detail, sensitivity to patron needs, discretion, and knowledge of etiquette. An eye for sophistication and elegance in event design and execution is essential. The individual in this position is required to use the AVA’s Tessitura donor management database to track patron participation in events and to update and maintain records as appropriate. Competence in drafting correspondence and other written materials is essential. Basic graphic design skills are a plus. Other valuable qualities include flexibility, a sense of humor, and an enthusiastic commitment to the institution’s mission. Knowledge of opera and Broadway desirable. A valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required. Willingness and availability to work a significant number of evening and weekend events required. |
