2017-2018 Program InternThe Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia is seeking Interns for the 2017-2018 academic year. The internship will center on the production of the 2018 Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, and will include work on other JASGP programs and administrative work. Candidates should have a familiarity with Japan and Japanese culture. Japanese language ability is a plus. A valid driver’s license is preferred. Desired Skills
Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be available 2 days/week for 5-6 hour during the business day beginning November 2017. There will be some night and weekend responsibilities with advanced notice. This position is an unpaid internship, however, a modest daily stipend will be provided. The Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival is a project of the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) with primary support from Subaru of America, Inc. The project aims to foster a better understanding of the cultural, social, and educational customs of Japan building on the JASGP commitment to plant and maintain cherry trees in local parks. To date, JASGP has planted more than 1,000 cherry trees, supplementing the 1,600 flowering trees presented by the Japanese government as a gesture of friendship in 1926.
