Teen Summit CoordinatorThis November the Cultural Alliance will host the first-ever gathering of Philadelphia’s arts-engaged teen leaders. The inaugural Teen Council Summit will bring together for the first time the teens who serve on teen advisory councils across the cultural sector for a dynamic half-day summit to envision how teens can become more engaged in arts and culture and the civic life of the city. The Cultural Alliance seeks a part-time, temporary Teen Summit Coordinator to oversee this event. The Teen Council Summit will take place on Saturday, November 4, in the Historic Landmark Building of the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts at Broad and Cherry Streets. The Summit will be presented as part of PAFA’s weekend-long event “Your Voice. Our Country,” which explores the role of art and artists in addressing political, social and economic divides. Participating teens will be recruited through cultural organizations that have teen councils providing oversight and guidance on teen programming. In addition to the Cultural Alliance’s STAMP program and PAFA, other participating organizations include Arden Theatre Company, the Penn Museum, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, Philadelphia Youth Poetry Movement, Temple Contemporary and Yes! And…Collaborative Arts. We are also engaging the members of the Philadelphia Youth Commission and the YOUTHadelphia advisory committee at the Philadelphia Foundation. We expect 50-75 teens to attend the Summit. The Teen Summit Coordinator will manage all aspects of planning and implementing the Summit. Responsibilities include:
The Coordinator will work from October 2-November 10 as a part-time temporary employee of the Cultural Alliance for a projected 20-25 hours per week. He or she will report to Anne Marie Rhoades, Vice President of Advocacy and Strategic Partnerships, and will be paid $20 an hour. |
