Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

Cultivating and Soliciting Donors of Color

Year by year, the United States is becoming more diverse in myriad ways. Are we as fundraisers prepared for this increasing diversity? Do we understand how men and women of various racial and ethnic backgrounds think about philanthropy and what motivates them to give?

This interactive session will focus on issues of race and gender within fundraising. The presenters will provide a rich understanding of philanthropy and fundraising strategies in diverse contexts. They will also engage us in hands-on activities to strengthen our fundraising skills.

Presenters:
- Marybeth Gasman, Ph.D. - University of Pennsylvania
- Nelson Bowman, III - Director of Development, Prairie View A&M University
