Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance

2013 Annual Meeting: Leadership in Action

On Monday, September 30, over five hundred and fifty cultural and civic leaders gathered at the Independence Seaport Museum to celebrate another great year for Philadelphia’s arts and cultural community and to connect with friends and colleagues.

As guests arrived to the event, they were greeted by giant puppets from Spiral Q and the exciting beats of the Powelton Steppers. The meeting kicked off with a performance by Powelton Steppers & Spiral Q featuring performers from Mendelssohn Club of Philadelphia leading the audience in call and response. The energy from this performance echoed throughout the night! Dr. William R. Hite Jr, the superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia addressed the community about the state of arts education. Finally, the year’s featured a presentation on “Leadership in Action” presented by Michael Norris, Interim Executive Director at the Cultural Alliance. An energized crowed then gathered in the galleries of the Seaport Museum to enjoy some refreshments, light fare, and conversation.
