Top 10 Cultural Alliance Moments of 2014 (In No Particular Order)

2014 was a busy one for us. Looking back, here are some of our favorite moments!

1. Releasing our 2014 Portfolio research report and introducing the cultural community to our new President, Maud Lyon, at our 2014 Annual Member Meeting & Reception at The Franklin Institute. 

2. Launching the first-ever PNC Arts Alive Holiday Spectacular on Phillyfunguide, which offerred 1/2 price deals, ticket giveaways, and exclusive guides to the top holiday events in and around Philadelphia.

3. Surpassing our #GivingTuesday 2014 fundraising goal for STAMP, thanks to individual donations, prize money from Razoo, and our generous matching grants from Joanne Harmelin and a donor advised fund from The Philadelphia Foundation.

4. Interviewing Governor-elect Tom Wolf about his positions on arts & culture policy issues.

5. GroundSwell joining members of the cultural community and Councilwoman Blondell Reynolds Brown to discuss the impact of arts and culture on the city of Philadelphia, and what the next Mayor and City Council need to do to ensure that our community continues to thrive.

6. Partnering with Emerging Arts Leaders: Philadelphia to introduce you to some of the most exciting arts and culture professionals working on behalf of our sector.

7. Helping you get to know our amazing staff!

8. Securing a $1.3 Million increase for the Philadelphia Cultural Fund, thanks to GroundSwell, PCF, Mayor Nutter and City Council, notably Council President Darrell Clarke and City Council members Marian B. Tasco, Mark Squilla and Cindy Bass. 

9. Seeing Helen Haynes appointed as Chief Cultural Officer in the City's Office of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy (OACCE).

10. Partnering with the Pennsylvania Horticultural Society (PHS) to host state legislators for a tour and reception at the 2014 ARTiculture-themed Philadelphia Flower Show.
