Meet an Alliancer: Frances Ellison!Ever wondered what it's like to work at the Cultural Alliance? We'll introduce you to members of our staff! This month the spotlight is on Frances Ellison!
Job Title: Digital Content Coordinator
Job Responsibilities: Mainly running the Phillyfunguide, with a concentration in managing editorial content and monitoring analytics. I also co-manage Funsavers with Steve Gudelunas, our Audience Engagement Manager, and I happily do whatever last minute projects asked of me by John McInerney, our Vice President of Research & Communications.
Degrees/certificates: Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) from Chestnut Hill College in Journalism & Professional Writing, with a minor in English Literature (my first love!).
Past experience working in arts and culture: I’ve been either on stage or behind the scenes in the Philly theater community in some capacity or another since I was chosen to be in the Odyssey of the Mind program when I was 11. My last show was in 2013 for the Chestnut Hill Community Theater production of Hairspray. I now spend most of my time behind the scenes, lending a helping hand where I can to my friends in the LGBT+ performance community; my most recent work being with the Philadelphia LGBTQ Arts Initiative (please check them out! http://www.facebook.com/Philly-LGBTQ-Arts-Initiative-336657126677198/).
Favorite thing about working at the Cultural Alliance (so far): It’s not the restaurant/service industry! And I’m the rare unicorn that’s actually getting to put my degree to use, while working in a community that I’ve been passionate about since childhood :)
Favorite cultural institutions/attractions/events: Franklin Institute (easy one), any kind of live music anything, outdoor festivals, Night Market (honestly anything with food), and the Gayborhood.
A fun fact about yourself: Beyonce.
