Creative Montco Needs Your Voice!

Creative Montco, a group spearheading the county-wide cultural planning initiative in Montgomery County, is looking for input from the public. Last week they launched an online survey asking questions about the importance of arts and culture to individuals and communities throughout the county. If you live or work in Montgomery County please take a minute to take the survey!

Through a series of 24 questions, people can share their favorite cultural activities, experiences or places in Montgomery County, as well as their opinions about the future direction of the arts in their local communities.

"We're asking everyone who has a stake in the future of Montgomery County to share their ideas with us," said Dr. Karen A. Stout, President of Montgomery County Community College and Chair of Creative Montco. "It's vital that we get participation from a broad range of stakeholders, as this input lays the foundation for our future strategy and planning efforts."

Creative MontCo is a partnership of community members and organizations developing a comprehensive cultural and creative economy plan for communities throughout the county. The group is dedicated to making Montgomery County a more vibrant place to live, work and play. The planning process, which began in July 2011, has been gathering information about the cultural landscape of the county through research, individual interviews, the online survey and small meetings called “Community Conversations.”

Community Conversations are taking place at business and neighborhood association meetings, church gatherings, school events, library events, dinner parties…basically any social gathering in the county. If you would like to host a conversation at your local meeting or event please contact Creative Montco’s Project Coordinator, Natalie Brown.
