What is the Philadelphia Cultural List Cooperative?
The Philadelphia Cultural List Cooperative is a master database of mailing lists compiled from participating Cultural Alliance member organizations. One of the largest in the country, the purpose of the List Cooperative is to simplify mailing list exchanges, save time for cultural marketers and cut costs for individual organizational members. More importantly, the program offers the opportunity not just to share names, but also to gain knowledge about direct mail response rates and improve analysis methodology for your direct mail campaigns.
How can I learn to use the eMerge system?
The eMerge system features a user-friendly step-by-step list select wizard that allows users to sort data by geography, organization, segment, and other factors. In addition, the Cultural Alliance will provide comprehensive training and support for the eMerge system. We will have two staff available to talk you through the process during standard business hours and TRG will have dedicated account executives assigned to the Philadelphia Cultural List Cooperative to provide further counsel on your direct response campaigns.
Are my names protected?
Yes, segments entered into the system can either be designated to never be shared (but available for your own analysis) or shared by permission only.
How do I pull a list?
With eMerge, organizations will create custom merge/purged lists. Organizations can browse all available list segments in the database; filter for geography, buying behavior, multi-buyers, demographic attributes; set priority of lead segments; and run a merge online within a few minutes. Your list can be quickly downloaded by your mail house via FTP once you have sent automated requests to the organizations whose names you wish to share.
How do I get permission from another organization?
Through the eMerge system you must fill out a simple online exchange form when using lists from other organizations. The form is then e-mailed to list owners, notifying them of a request for a list use. Check back to the system within three business days to see if the exchange has been approved. The system provides you with a comprehensive report detailing who you have shared your segments with including information on quantity, timing, and what lists were traded in exchange for your own.
How will I know which lists to ask for?
TRG offers extensive tools to filter, select and analyze segments based on a broad variety of factors including frequency, geography, and type of list. For example, eMerge can provide zip code penetration reports between any segment or group of segments. It can also produce crossover analysis showing how segments penetrate the population of the zip codes they live in. Lists can also be appended at an additional cost to filter based on more advanced features including income, age, sex and other factors.
When can I begin pulling lists?
Once you have joined the list by November 2, 2007 and submitted your segments by December 7, 2007, the system will be ready for use in mid January of 2008.
Can I put in lists that I do not want to share with other organizations so they can be cleaned?
You can submit all of your lists to the Philadelphia Cultural List Cooperative database for cleaning and maintaining your list segments. Your segments are also available to update your in house database. The “Do Not Exchange” feature, (managed online), allows clients to designate which lists are “viewable” by other organizations. You must have one active list to be able to participate in list exchanges with other organizations in the List Cooperative.
What if someone calls me and tells me to stop sending materials to their home?
eMerge allows organizations to manage all suppression lists real time by adding and revising names on suppression lists on the fly through simple look ups. All changes to suppression flags take effect immediately.
What about telephone?
Telemarketing permission is determined by each organization. Any telephone appending is shared by those organizations that agree to share phone numbers.
How much does the program cost?
The Greater Philadelphia Cultural Alliance pays for list collection, file standardization and coding, address correction, list merge/purge and uploading of the complete data set to emerge. In addition, the Cultural Alliance covers the costs of the NCOA change file for your lists, patron cross-over reports, full access to eMerge and training in the system, and two staff members to help you through your list buying process.
The only cost your organization is responsible for is the output of the lists: $100 minimum, up to 10,000 records; $175 for 10,001 to 30,000 records; $225for 30,001-100,000 records; and $275 for 100,000 records plus (as well as your printing, lettershop and postage of your mail pieces).
If you pay for your list pulls online with a credit card via eMerge secure processing site, you will receive a $25 credit to your order.
How do I sign up for the program?
The Cultural Alliance recruits new List Cooperative participants once per year. If you are interested in the program for 2008, please contact Kendra Lawton at 215-557-7811, ext. 38 or at kendral@philaculture.org.
